An aircraft developed by Boom Supersonic has become the first independently funded jet to break the sound barrier. The XB-1 aircraft accelerated to Mach 1.05 at about 35,000 feet during a test flight Tuesday in the same Mojave Desert airspace in California where Charles “Chuck” Yeager was the first person to break the sound barrier in 1947. Kennedy is seeking to lead a $1.7 trillion agency that will oversee vaccine recommendations as well as food inspections and health insurance for half the country in President Donald Trump’s administration. Kennedy denies he’s anti-vaccine.… Continue Reading
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — A district attorney says an investigation into how then-North Carolina State Treasurer Dale Folwell used state government vehicles is ending with no charges filed. Freeman did say that Folwell agreed to pay over $6,200 for commuting costs he should have been charged and the reimbursement for some miles driven. Folwell is a Republican who completed eight years as treasurer and didn’t seek reelection in 2024. He lost a bid for the GOP nomination for governor last year. Folwell said he was “relieved” about Freeman’s decision.… Continue Reading
