Electric vehicle owners who live in the path of hurricanes should be wary of the risk their cars could catch fire if they are inundated by saltwater as the powerful storm moves ashore. There have been several instances of electric vehicles igniting after past hurricanes, so Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis urged EV owners to get their vehicles to higher ground before the storm hits. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has been tracking this problem since the first instances of it were reported in October 2012 after Hurricane Sandy struck the Northeast. Israel strikes Hezbollah in a huge blast targeting the militant group’s leader

BEIRUT (AP) — The Israeli military says it struck the headquarters of Hezbollah in Beirut, causing massive explosions that leveled multiple buildings. Two sources told The Associated Press that the strikes Friday targeted the leader of the militant group, Hassan Nasrallah. At least six people were killed and 91 were wounded in the most powerful blasts in the Lebanese capital in the past year. At least 11 killed in Israeli strike that hit a school in northern Gaza

DEIR AL-BALAH, Gaza Strip (AP) — Gaza’s Health Ministry says an Israeli airstrike hit a school sheltering thousands of displaced Palestinians in northern Gaza. At least 11 people were killed on Thursday and 22 others wounded including women and children. The Israeli military says it hit the school in the Jabalia refugee camp and was targeting Hamas militants inside who were planning attacks on Israeli troops. DOVER, Del. (AP) — A settlement has been reached in a defamation lawsuit pitting an electronic voting machine manufacturer targeted by allies of former President Donald Trump against a conservative news outlet that aired accusations of vote manipulation in the 2020 election. Newsmax on Thursday confirmed a deal had been reached but further details were not disclosed. Smartmatic, the voting machine company, said that Newsmax program hosts and guests made false and defamatory statements in November and December 2020 implying that Smartmatic participated in rigging the results. Netanyahu vows to use ‘full force’ against Hezbollah and dims hopes for a cease-fire

TEL AVIV, Israel (AP) — The Israeli prime minister appears to be downplaying hopes of an imminent truce with Hezbollah after the United States and its allies called for an “immediate” 21-day cease-fire to “provide space for diplomacy.” In a statement released as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was headed to the U.N.
